A color-adjusted sample image can be useful for presentation, but it should not replace the original observation record. Keep the original photograph beside every edited export.
Record what changed
Save edits as a separate file. Note whether you changed exposure, white balance, contrast or saturation, and preserve the connection to the specimen ID. If you crop the picture, retain an uncropped original so that the sample can still be identified.
Avoid using two differently edited images as evidence that one engraving result is stronger than another. Where comparison matters, review the original captures under consistent viewing conditions and label any presentation exports clearly.
Make portfolio captions specific
A caption can identify a sample and describe the photo as adjusted for presentation without claiming that every viewer will see the same color. If the original is missing, disclose that limitation in your internal record before using the image for comparison.
For an AntBelt G1 portfolio, distinguish an observed sample from a proposed visual. The contextual hero is a sample collage, not an experiment proving the effects of image adjustment.
